Welcome to Public Speakers Sligo

Welcome Logo

Public Speakers Sligo is an established Public Speaking and Leadership club. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month between September & June for an evening of speaking fun, exciting stories and valuable speaking feedback. Our club is the perfect place for you if you have a fear of public speaking, or just simply enjoying the social atmosphere.

You will find that Public Speakers Sligo is a fun, friendly public speaking club. We’re an eclectic group ranging from students, professionals, business people, entrepreneurs and retirees.

Our group is a mixed group containing some experienced speakers, and a lot of enthusiastic amateurs. All of whom share a passion for personal development and having fun whilst improving. There are also lots of benefits of being a member of Public Speakers Sligo.

We meet at Sligo Park Hotel every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 8.00pm to practise and develop our public speaking skills.

Public Speakers Sligo is affiliated to Toastmasters International, a non-profit organisation with 13,500 clubs worldwide. We have members from across Sligo and its surrounding areas.

Interested? Why not come along to our next meeting to find out more? No need to tell us you’re coming – just show up!

A word from one of our members...

A few years back I was out walking my dog when I spotted a poster in a local shop window which said “Would you like to improve your public speaking skills and gain more confidence?”. Well I thought to myself “that sounds good to me”.

What I found in Public Speakers Sligo was a warm, welcoming and supportive environment in which I could not only improve my communication skills but also take on new personal challenges and help others to do the same.

Some of the many skills that can be attained in our club are:

  • Communications skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Form great contacts … and some new friends
  • Develop and grow as a speaker
  • Gain valuable feedback on yourself

Everyone at Public Speakers Sligo has the opportunity for personal development and most importantly this is done at your own pace – no pressure!

We give and receive feedback to our fellow club members but never criticise, the evaluation will focus on highlighting the skills you already have and where you might become even better than you are already.

I strongly recommend a visit to Public Speakers Sligo. It may be one of the best decisions you ever make, it certainly was for me.

All change

We have changed our club name to Public Speakers Sligo. We feel that this name very clearly promotes what our club is about.  So we say a fond farewell to Innisfree Toastmasters and a warm welcome to Public Speakers Sligo – PSS for short. We are still part of Toastmasters International which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping people become better communicators and leaders.  If you want to know more about our club and how it can help you why not come along to one of our meetings. We meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 8pm in the Sligo Park Hotel.
