"When I joined Toastmasters I was no stranger to public speaking. As a School Principal I frequently addressed Governors, Parents etc. etc. But I had never been evaluated , timing was pretty much up to me and nobody ever made a recommendation! I welcomed the discipline, having my speeches strictly timed, receiving considered evaluations and my every gesture noted ! It was what I needed - I had been a free agent for far too long. So Toastmasters has been a valuable benefit to me"

"When I first joined Toastmasters, my only real experience speaking was as a teaching assistant.  I remember my first speech as stiff, awkward, and very anxious! By the time I had reached my sixth speech, I found that I tremendously enjoyed public speaking, and was able to express myself in a fashion more free and relaxed than I thought possible. I'm doing things now that I never thought I'd do"

"In addition my confidence in speaking to customers face to face and on the phone has increased. Toastmasters has also taught me listening skills and how to react to impromptu questions. I owe a lot to this opportunity"

"Joining Toastmasters has given me a great deal of confidence with speaking in public and this has enhanced job opportunities, improved negotiating skills with employers and staff members"

"Toastmasters has helped me improve my communication skills and gain self-confidence"

All change

We have changed our club name to Public Speakers Sligo. We feel that this name very clearly promotes what our club is about.  So we say a fond farewell to Innisfree Toastmasters and a warm welcome to Public Speakers Sligo – PSS for short. We are still part of Toastmasters International which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping people become better communicators and leaders.  If you want to know more about our club and how it can help you why not come along to one of our meetings. We meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 8pm in the Sligo Park Hotel.
