Reasons To Join Innisfree Toastmasters Club

reasons for joining

Here are some of the top reasons joining Innisfree Toastmasters Club.

Some of the reasons stated by our members include: Help and guidance for presentations for work or college, wedding speeches (best man, either wedding partner or father of the bride), enhancing their leadership skills for career advancement and personal development or simply joining and becoming part of a friendly and entertaining community.

Self Confidence

Many people struggle with self-confidence. Self-confidence and effective communication can be learned, with Innisfree Toastmasters we will equip you with the means for effective communication and improve your self-confidence and look like a professional public speaker as you will be able to capture your audience’s attention and interest.

Toastmaster clubs are designed to maximise opportunities for leadership. You can participate in different roles such as Toastmaster, evaluator, presenting a speech or even as a mentor to help enhance the skills of fellow members.

With practice and support in our club meetings you will improve your communication skills in a supportive and friendly environment.

If making impromptu speeches is your weak area, then Table Topics is for you. We will coach you through this and make it fun at the same time.

Several Toastmaster roles test and improve your ability to listen to and summarise what people are saying.

One of the skill Innisfree Toastmasters club will help you to improve on are organisational skills. You will enhance your sense of self control and competence, and increase your energy and productivity levels – all of which are prerequisites for success.

We’ll applaud you – It’s a tradition, each time you take to the podium, everyone gives you a round of applause – It’s our clubs way of saying “thank you for being brave”.

We are a warm welcoming, positive and enthusiastic group with a variety of backgrounds. We share a common goal – to get better at public speaking.

Visitors are welcome at any club meeting to be a spectator or to join in, to ask questions and to enjoy the Innisfree Toastmaster community spirit!

This years national final was won by Sligo Toastmasters representative Robert McDaid

Tipperary's Anna Bradish is a Europe Direct soapbox winner 2018

Congratulations to Robert, seen here with Anna Bradish who won the under 18 title, from all at Public Speakers Sligo (one of whose members won last year’s final making it 2 in a row for Sligo!)

All change

We have changed our club name to Public Speakers Sligo. We feel that this name very clearly promotes what our club is about.  So we say a fond farewell to Innisfree Toastmasters and a warm welcome to Public Speakers Sligo – PSS for short. We are still part of Toastmasters International which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping people become better communicators and leaders.  If you want to know more about our club and how it can help you why not come along to one of our meetings. We meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 8pm in the Sligo Park Hotel.

Until next time…

Our meetings have resumed for 2019 in the beautifully refurbished Sligo Park Hotel.
